Motion platforms System Engineer - Camtek

Camtek is seeking a talented Motion Platforms System Engineer to join our multidisciplinary R&D team.

In this role, you will take part in the development of advanced motion platforms for high-precision inspection and metrology systems. You will be responsible for defining system requirements, analyzing performance, leading investigations, and driving system-level solutions while working closely with experts from multiple engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Own system performance from concept through implementation, including requirements definition, analysis, modeling, and simulation.
• Capture customer needs and workflows and translate them into system requirements and specifications.
• Lead system characterization, feasibility studies, conceptual design activities, and verification & validation processes.
• Support system integration, calibration, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations of complex multidisciplinary systems.
• Define and improve user workflows and contribute to UI/UX concepts for new products.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture documents, test plans, reports, and operating procedures.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Mechanical, Software, Electro-Optics, Automation, IT/DevOps, Marketing, and Customer Support.
• Travel internationally to customer sites as required.

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Optics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in multidisciplinary system development involving motion control, electro-optics, opto-mechanics, or automation systems.
• Hands-on experience with motion control systems and leading motion-controller platforms.
• Experience working with PLCs and industrial automation solutions.
• Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, or similar high-level programming languages.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to investigate complex system-level issues and drive solutions to completion.
• Experience writing technical documentation and presenting technical findings to multidisciplinary audiences.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
